What Video Game Did I Play Yesterday?

DIY "Shareware Disc of Switch Software" Adventure

Dig Deep (Switch)

March 18th, 2026

I think I'm getting a little burned out, but that happens all the time. The weekend is getting closer every minute!

I finished Dig Deep yesterday, which I checked on every half hour or so. It was bright, cheery, and reasonably satisfying to complete. It also helped me stay focused on more important things just by being there to glance at, so I can't complain. This was 20 cents reasonably spent.

I also started Cat of Monte Cristo, an RPG Maker game that is The Count of Monte Cristo if Edmund Dantes was a cat boy. It needs proofreading, but I think it's charming how much it feels like playing someone's inside joke with their friends. The battle system is ok, too. I started this because I was too lazy to go get my Switch out of the other room, but I'm glad I did.

My last game of the day was Hidden Cats: The Last of Cats. I got pretty far in the bonus stage, but I suspect this doesn't save, so I might have to do it all again.

March 17th, 2026

Today was exhausting, so I am making a very simple post that'll give me more work tomorrow. It'll balance out just fine.

My co-worker and I finished A Way Out last night, which was a blast. The last couple hours were wild, and pretty surprising, too. I was really impressed by a chase sequence that bounced back and forth between both players, though. It was well edited and choreographed, and had me so caught up in the gameplay and story that it wasn't until later I reflected on how hard it must be to make gameplay like that feel natural and fun. Playing an entire story-heavy game in co-op seemed like it could be gimmicky, but it didn't end up going that way at all.

I needed a new idle game to play to numb some stress, so I started Dig Deep, one of my many 20 cent Switch games. It's kind of like an interactive screensaver where you tell people to dig holes, but that was kind of what I needed yesterday.

For my RPG time, I spent some time with Shijou Saikyou Miyamoto Julia, but didn't get very far. I got bogged down by some cutscenes because my Japanese is exceedingly poor. Playing through one mission isn't nothing, though, and I'll get better with kanji the more I read!
