What Video Game Did I Play Yesterday?
December 2025
December 31st, 2025
Limiting my exposure to Luck Be A Landlord last night did not help my sleep situation at all. I did play two rounds, but that didn't make me more productive or relaxed.
During the day, I ran Hissatsu Pachinko Station Now 9: Dirty Pair for a while, getting quite a few jackpots yesterday! It was sparkly.
This is my last post of the year, so happy new year, everyone!

Last night, I slept really poorly, so this might not be so coherent. I played Mario Party online after work yesterday, just to make sure I could swear at my coworkers one last time before the year ended. I am not the biggest Mario Party fan on earth, but it was an ok time! The graphics and music were good vibes. Plus, unlike when I was a kid, I was not playing to win, which made it more fun. Embracing the futility of the game was nice!
I spent way more time than I should have playing Luck Be A Landlord, too. I cleared another floor, but am limiting my time with this game tonight.
For my pachinko time, I ran Hissatsu Pachinko Station Now 9: Dirty Pair for a few minutes. The sound and graphics in this are not as sharp as in Dolphin Ring, but I still don't dislike it as a background game. It's garish, shiny, and amusing.
December 29th, 2025
I really enjoyed my time with Bibi Blocksberg: Big Broom Race 3 earlier in the year, so I picked up the new sequel, Bibi Blocksberg: Big Broom Race 4. Bafflingly, it is exactly the same game as the last one, but with two key differences. First, the witches are no longer cel shaded. Second, it barely runs. It's so bad that in one race, I saw an opponent disappearing and reappearing further forward, like the game can't properly handle rendering the other racers. I have no clue why a company would release the same game, down to the tracks and cutscenes being the same, but way worse, but it is super interesting! I am going to get every achievement in this.
I got Heiwa Parlor Pro: Dolphin Ring Special to start throwing me some jackpots, too, all of which seem to be accompanied by the same animation of a little pig vibing with a mermaid, surfing, and nearly being eaten by a shark, though not in that order. This is really serving me well as a silly idle game.
Most of my game time, though, was dedicated to Luck Be A Landlord. I beat a few floors and have started fighting the landlord directly, which is a great time. I am going to have to finish this off before I'll be able to focus on anything else.
December 28th, 2025
Tonight, I got my PS3 set back up in my living room. It hasn't been out there since I finished off Sonic the Fighters, so it's nice to have it back. I am not sure if I'll do much with it tonight, but it should pop up in a post within the next few days.
Last night, I fell deep into the roguelike pit, which is fine. I started with Cat God Ranch, playing a few rounds after grabbing some screenshots of the cats.
From there, though, I went back to Luck Be A Landlord, which I hadn't played for a while! It's really fun, and I became set on finally finishing this. I hadn't played any stages with the essences yet, which are temporary items that can give you permanent boosts, and those lead to some really crazy amounts of coins per spin late in the game. I'll need to get this out of my system before going back to Cat God Ranch.
I also kept up with Heiwa Parlor Pro: Dolphin Ring Special, finally getting the game to spit out some goofy animations at me. I didn't get any jackpots at all, but chalked up my disappointment to not really knowing what goes on in pachinko and pressed forward. I'm not playing with real cash, so I could care less.
December 27th, 2025
For 2026, I think I'm going to focus on PS1/N64/Saturn era games, so I did a page skin for PS1 games on here last night. I still need to do N64, but I was surprised how similar the logo colors were when I looked at them side by side! Instead, I might turn towards the jungle green or atomic purple color schemes. The translucent controllers were so neat!
Anyway, yesterday I continued my PS1 pachinko journey with Heiwa Parlor Pro: Dolphin Ring Special. These games, or the ones I've played so far, have a little screen for "richi data," which kind of catalogs how often you trigger special animations you can get in the slots section of the playfield, with info on if you won or lost upon getting them. Filling these up gives me something of a way to measure clearing the game, so I'm going to go for it and focus on this one first! I like the cute, beachy theme and bright colors, which is as good of a reason to mess with such a low maintenance game as any.
Before bed, I played a bit of Cat God Ranch, too, getting a decent grip on the game's systems. I'm keeping my farm in this by feeding loads of birds to foxes, but life is brutal.
December 26th, 2025
A couple days ago, I got a cute new retro gaming advice to drag along with me on vacation. I am using this as an excuse to experience the pure idle gaming experience of virtual pachinko. Last night, I played a little of Hissatsu Pachinko Station Now 9: Dirty Pair before bed, chosen because Kei and Yuri have all-timer anime girl character designs. It got me to sleep, so it was a ten out of ten experience. I'm sure any company would love having that as a pull quote.
December 25th, 2025
I am fried, so this will maybe not be a good Christmas post! It was a good day, though, and I hope the rest of you had nice days as well!
I did a few runs in Unfair Flips yesterday, and have still not cleared this game. I am okay with that, but forgot to get a screenshot!
What's worse, I also forgot to get a screenshot of Battle Puzzle 2048: Wicked Witches! I was so excited at new 2048 RPGs that I bought this at the same time as Battle Puzzle 2048: Space Girls. This one seems to be newer, but is somehow less polished. The default tiles, which can be changed, are difficult to read, and I got a bug that layered numbers on top of each other and made my opponent disappear off the board, too, making a pretty decent round impossible to play through. This is still playable enough for me to run through, but this is it for this series for me.
I did, luckily, get a screenshot of Nintendo Switch Sports, which I picked up shiny and new on sale. I've only tried bowling and volleyball so far, but had a really lovely time! I'm excited to play more when I'm a little peppier.
December 24th, 2025
It is Christmas Eve and I have done too many crafts. I'll probably keep going so I don't have to put these ornament kits away for a year, but at the moment, I am not excited for it.
Last night, I did a playthrough of Captain Commando in Capcom Arcade Stadium, which was fun! I thought it was a bright, strange, and charming game, and I enjoyed doing beatdowns on aliens as a baby in a mech. It can be fun when a game is goofy, and I'll probably run it as the other's characters, too.
I played a few puzzles in Picross S: SNK Classics and Neo Geo, too. I got started in Clip Picross, but I might come back to this more later. It'll be a fun capper to this game.
December 23rd, 2025
I'm a bit tired today, but cheerfully heading into a five-day break from work. I've made kind of a mess for myself in terms of Christmas ornaments, and I'm hoping to dig out of that in the next couple of days. My original goal was to make 100 ornaments or decorations, but I'm not even sure how many I have done as of typing this. I'll take stock tomorrow morning and see where I can go from there! At the very least, I'll finish off some of the little decorations I've started.
Last night, I didn't really do anything crafty at all. I played some beat-em-ups online with one of my friends and got unreasonably frustrated with my own lack of skill. We started off with Battletoads & Double Dragon: The Ultimate Team, which was fine. Compared to the second level, the first stage was kind of a dud, at least visually, so it didn't make an awesome first impression. It was okay, though!
We played Rival Turf for a bit after that, which I liked better. It felt zippy and I got to brandish a sword, which was nice. It still had some clunkiness, but I still had a good time with it. It'll be fun to play both of these more!
Because my lack of belt scrolling skill was bothering me, I tried Coffee Crisis before bed. I got this as a free Switch download ages ago and hadn't really played it until now. It felt slightly incomprehensible, but since I started so late, I'm not sure I want to blame the game for that. I'll come back to it eventually and see how it goes.
December 22nd, 2025
Yesterday was a bit more Christmas, and I saw the 4k remaster of Angel's Egg, too! It was a really nice day, but not really a gaming day. I played a few stages of Picross S: SNK Classics & Neo Geo before bed, but that was it.
December 21st, 2025
My Christmas festivities were really fun yesterday, with many lovely gifts, but I got home pretty late. I was still feeling mildly festive, so I decided to play some Vampire Survivors stages as Santa Ladonna. The Santa style aside, she is actually very fun to play as, so I might keep this up a couple more days. She might be useful for some of the achievements that have me stuck.
December 20th, 2025
This is a quick, early post before my family's Christmas festivities start! I did light gaming only yesterday, with another failed round of Unfair Flips getting the majority of my small gaming time.
I played a very, very small amount of Find All: Christmas before I put my gaming PC away.
Then, before bed, I did about a puzzle and a half in Picross S: SNK Classics and Neo Geo.
December 19th, 2025
Today, I've been working on a Christmas-themed custom Gunpla, using a High Grade kit of the RX-78-2. I've never painted one like this before, so I'm doing a lot of touch up work as I go. It's fun, though, and my set of Gundam Markers looks way better than I expected it would! This might not show up again for a couple days, since I have a slightly busy weekend ahead, but I'm having a lovely time with this!
As far as games go, I played a cute and silly short visual novel called Mermaid Mission: Titanic. It's about a mermaid involved in the military plot to sink the human anti-mermaid warship, the Titanic. It is a comedy, but it's a lot more straightforward than I expected from the goofy plot summary, which is kind of nice! I thought this was very pleasant.
I played a few rounds of Unfair Flips before bed, too. I still have not gotten 10 heads in a row, but it made me think so much about probability that I'm now slightly less worried about plane crashes.
December 18th, 2025
I'm feeling a little better today, but am still very sleepy. I played a lot of low-impact games while I was dozing on and off yesterday, though. I took being half asleep as a chance to clear Ani Idle, hitting the max level, beating all the enemies, and clearing all the dungeons. This was in a weird space between an RPG and a clicker, but I didn't hate it. It was ok to play when I wasn't very focused, and I felt really satisfied when I finished it. It just existed in a strange space where I didn't have enough to do to feel like I was actively playing, but there was a little too much to do to really zone out to it.
I finished Hidden Cats: Christmas, too. I have this full series of games and am considering binging them so I have them over with.
On the subject of festive hidden object games, I finished the free stage in Find All: Christmas. The DLC has 200 objects to find, and I'm excited to get started on it! This is a good time.
I did a couple of runs in Unfair Flips and still didn't get the good ending. It was excellent for zoning out and half watching Youtube, though, so I'm not sorry I gave so much time to it.
Right before bed, I did some grinding away at numbers in Baking Time, too. I didn't get anywhere, but it helped me get to sleep pretty early, which was excellent!
December 17th, 2025
Today, I'm way under the weather, so this will be kind of a short post. I was out of it last night, too, so I just played hidden object games. I finished up the Where [insert creature name] series with Where Dragon Spirits, which was cute, playable, and a little short. It was an ok note to end on.
I kept going with Find All:Christmas, too, making more progress in the first stage.
December 16th, 2025
I have been having extremely long, vivid nightmares for the last couple of nights, so I'm really wiped out today. I was getting there yesterday, so I did some immensely casual gaming. I played Unfair Flips for a couple hours and still do not have my 10 heads in a row. I fell asleep playing it, though, and that was kind of excellent. Waking up to remember I was zoning out to a coin flipping sim was less great.
I got really close to the end of Ani Idle, which was driving me a bit crazy in that it's not an idle game at all. I had to be really on top of things to avoid dying and losing stacks of HP, so I need to do the last bit of this while I'm mildly alert.
I did some cat finding, too. Hidden Cats: Winter was kind of a "well, I've got this whole series, so I might as well play it" few minutes. It was definitely just there.
I started Find All: Christmas, but didn't finish it. I feel like the Find All games are kind of the gold standard for this kind of thing, and this is no exception. There's a nice variety of stuff to find, it puts some effort into actually hiding the objects, and it's cute and charming. I'm not even done with the main game yet, but I already dropped nearly 3 quarters on the DLC. It's really lovely!
December 15th, 2025
Yesterday was cold, so I didn't want to focus much on gaming. I finished 2048 Battle Puzzle: Space Girls, which was my 100th finished game of the year. Tiny little casual games really boost those numbers! It wasn't as difficult as I wanted it to be, though, even on the higher difficulty levels. I got all of the achievements in this without even getting myself up to a 512 block, which feels ridiculous. It's not awful, but I did want this game to kick my butt a lot more often than it did. My fascination with 2048 comes from my constant failures.
I also tried Cat God Ranch, which is an odd game in that it is extremely similar to Luck Be A Landlord, just with the critiques of and jokes about capitalism stripped out. Also, Cat God Ranch doesn't have Mrs. Fruit, which is a big loss! I didn't dislike playing it, and the titular cat god is very cute. It was just a strange experience starting off.
I ran Clicker Heroes for a while as I made Christmas ornaments, too. I didn't make much progress because I was really making the hell out of some little beaded candy canes.
December 14th, 2025
I was really tired yesterday, so I mostly played clicker games. I want to finish off Baking Time, because it's cute, but a bit boring. I can't get very far at once here, though.
Clicker Heroes got more of my time and attention, and I finally scooted past the 100th level. I've got the ability to prestige now, so I'm trying to figure out when I should do that. It might just be best to wait until I hit a wall.
I did a few puzzles in Picross S: SNK Classics and Neo Geo, too. It's still a great time!
December 13th, 2025
I had my PS4 on after work last night and dug into Cooking Mama Cookstar, as I was after something light and cute. I did buzz through quite a few recipes, but stopped dead at one where it had me cover roasted vegetables in clear gelatin. It was called vegetable terrine, and no version of this I saw online resembled what Cooking Mama had me throw together at all. In fact, I saw one using whipped feta to hold the dish's loaf shape that looked really fantastic! As a clear, flavorless gelatin hater, though, I stopped playing for the evening at that.
The rest of my gaming for the night was less intriguing than the vegetable terrine. I had a good run in Air Twister, making it to the boss of stage 7 with one credit on easy mode. I know that doesn't sound impressive, but I'm pretty new at this game! It was satisfying. Turning the rumble off was good, too.
Other than that, I played idle games. I made excellent progress in Clicker Heroes, making all the numbers go way the heck up.
I went back to Baking Time after a while, too. I carried lots of little cakes and admired my large, round bee.
December 12th, 2025
I'm making a lot of Christmas ornaments the past few days, which is fun, but a little difficult to blog about. I might show some of them off here soon. For tonight, though, I'm doing a normal post.
Last night I got really into Titans Pinball, a cheap pinball game I picked up for XBox. It's from the same developer as Dragon Pinball, and certainly looks to me like it uses the same engine, too. I like this table so much better, though! I kept playing again and again for an hour or so, despite some suspiciously searing eye pain towards the end of the session.
I played through Where Christmas Elves, which was an extremely cute and charming stuff-finding game. I've really liked this series of these games, especially the cuteness level of the art, so I put this one off a bit so I'd still have it left. There's still one more of these to go, though!
I also went back and played some Air Twister, which was fun. The controller rumble is really off putting in this, though. The rumble for my own shots make it feel like I'm taking damage. I like it as a strange Space Harrier sort of game, so I'll just turn that off and keep playing.
December 11th, 2025
Yesterday wasn't a big day for video games, but I did have Clicker Heroes running for a while as I did some other stuff. This has a really nice sense of forward momentum for an idle game.
I did a few puzzles in Picross S: SNK Classics and Neo Geo before bed, too, which helped me get to sleep a little faster. I'm still kind of tired today, but feeling much better overall.
December 10th, 2025
I don't want to post today, but I played a lot yesterday. My only finish was Candy Box Clicker, a brief, but very cute idle game I found on itch.io. I liked this, and it was nice to play before bed.
My other gaming yesterday was on XBox. I tried Guwange, a Cave shooter, and really enjoyed it. I got absolutely destroyed, but it was run one in a new bullet hell! I didn't stand a chance, and that's ok.
I did an arcade playthrough in Girl Fight because it would be nice to finish off such an odd little game. It's tacky, but I don't hate playing it.
I played a few rounds in Dragon Pinball, too. It was frustrating!
Clicker Heroes got to run on my TV for a long time, too, and that was fine.
I'm super sleepy tonight, but I'll do my best to do a better post tomorrow!
December 9th, 2025
I was playing around with XBox achievements yesterday, which was kind of fun! I mostly sat out the PS3/360 console generation where achievements started, so this still has some novelty for me. I downloaded and played Clicker Heroes through the day, which seems like a pretty decent idle game so far. I'm just making numbers go up, but it's been relaxing and low maintenance so far.
I tried Battle Puzzle 2048- Space Girls, too, which is a 2048 game that doesn't run well. There's always a Live2D girl refusing to stand still on the side of the screen, which I think is dragging down performance, and generic dance pop with bizarre lyrics about space bounty hunting and robot girls is constantly playing. The base game is fine, but the presentation is overwhelming and confusing.
December 8th, 2025
I wanted to do an image heavy post today, but I'm having massive problems getting images off of my phone. I'm just going to write it anyway and hope I can get myself the screenshots later. They're an important part of the whole thing! (Edit: I got it fixed!)
Anyway, yesterday, I had a nice time playing with one of my Game Boy shaped Famicom-on-a-chip systems. I got one off Amazon, with a 666-in-1 rom, and it actually has decent enough buttons to enjoy the games! Because of that, I am playing through some of the "original" games scrambled in with the bootlegs. I started with Mad XMas, which is about Santa chucking candy, presents, and deadly bombs at an elf. This is the same game as Angel, a game where an angel throws stuff at a mummy that I played a couple weeks ago, but it doesn't pause. It only took seven minutes to finish, though, and it was mindless and painless.
I played Small Dinosaur, too, which was also the same game as Mad XMas and Angel. This was not a coincidence- I learned this would be the case from the Bootleg Games Wiki. I really like the sprites in this one, though! It's bright and cheery, but since it's the exact same game as the others, it's another seven minute long bit of nonsense.
I tried one called Magic Egg, too, which seemed to be a little reaction test about smashing angry creatures and sending cheery ones up a mysterious tube. Both seemed like bad options from here, but I wanted to grind this out and see how long it was. Unfortunately, the more I played, the more often it crashed, so I had to set it aside for the day.
Finally, I tried one called Bug Catcher, which was easy to the point of tedium until it very suddenly became impossible in level 19. It was another "catch stuff" game where you have to make a weird little guy eat bugs that match his color. Despite my snark, I curled up in a ball and played this for an hour straight. It was an ok smooth brain experience for a Sunday afternoon.
Before bed, I played a few puzzles in Picross S: SNK Classics & Neo Geo, too. Time Attack mode in this is like Mario Picross on a much stricter timeline, so it is the least relaxing Picross I have ever played. It's still pretty neat.
December 7th, 2025
Yesterday was somewhat busy, so I didn't work on any model kits. I didn't play games until it got late, either. Since I was excited to go see Jujutsu Kaisen: Execution tonight, I downloaded Jujutsu Kaisen: Cursed Clash onto my Switch 2 to see if it ran any better on the newer machine. It actually did, which was nice! It's still not an amazing game, but I had a nice time running one of the arcade ladders and might spend more time with this now.
I played a few puzzles in Picross S: SNK Classics & Neo Geo, too.
December 6th, 2025
Today will be a quick post, but I finished the Sega Saturn model after posting here last night! It came out so cute, and with so many nice little details! The tiny save backup battery is my favorite. I'm glad I finally built this!
I also started another kit, which looks rather troubling so far.
Before bed, I tried a game called Cozy Organizer, which is totally okay and relaxing so far! It's bright and cute, and feels more like a toy than a game. Putting things on shelves will be a decent sleepy game activity.
December 5th, 2025
I'm getting back to building some model kits today! One of my co-workers got in my head about the importance of panel lining to being a real Gunpla builder, but with my hand tremor, I couldn't get the lines straight, even at my most careful. It made me feel inadequate and fake, and sucked all the fun out of it. I followed another webmaster on here, though, Plamo Freaks, and they did a post about tackling a kit they were afraid to approach. The photos they posted of it looked amazing, and even though I even do plain, out of the box builds, it reminded me how much fun it can be to see a kit come together!
Today, I started back up with a kit of a Sega Saturn, thinking it might be easier than a mech. I messed up some of the stickers already, even though I'm only three steps in, but that's ok! It's really neat to see everything pop together, and I'm excited to finish it.
My gaming last night was somewhat less interesting than this, at least to me. I did a couple of runs in Unfair Flips, getting the same bad end both times.
I made up for that with a really excellent run, at least by my standards, in Meteora's Mystic Merge. I almost got two of the largest possible piece merged, but didn't quite make it! I'm sure I can someday, though.
December 4th, 2025
I said in last night's post that I needed to clear some games to get icons off of my Legion Go's desktop, which I was serious about. I started that quest with a run of Unfair Flips, getting the last bad ending I needed for a full achievements run. I'd say that this game is my nemesis, but it's nice to chill out and flip the coin while I'm watching TV.
After that, I tried Out of Sight, a diorama style hidden object game. I thought this would be short, since it's free to play, but it's got 20 levels! The mouse controls were a little funky for me, but this is nice so far.
I also played and finished Hidden Cats: Snow, and found all 100 cats in five minutes. Aside from it being very easy, I was also tired enough to find the meows upon finding a cat weirdly unsettling.
I finished the night grinding levels a bit in Ani Idle, but this was not a good going-to-sleep game. It's pretty laid back, so I can't put my finger on why I felt that way, but it just didn't succeed at that for me. That doesn't mean I'll quit, but it does maybe relegate this game to daylight.
December 3rd, 2025
Today, I bought a bundle of cozy games, but alas! My Lenovo Legion Go's screen is full of game icons, and I need to finish some of them before I download the games I got today.
Holiday Survivors is probably not going to be one of the games I clear in this quest, and that's fine! It's a weird, dirt cheap little Christmas themed Survivors-like, but it doesn't seem to have any permanent character upgrades. It felt a bit slow to me, but I got better at it as I played last night. I do think I will play through it all. This genre is relaxing, and I'm ok grinding through anything that's even competent within it. I just don't really feel inclined to rush through it because of seasonality.
December 2nd, 2025
Last night, I played a bunch of online matches in Pokemon Puzzle League and Panel de Pon, but since it was just 2-player matches and I'm also super sleepy, I don't have a ton to say about that. I forgot to take screenshots, too.
I played Picross S: SNK Classics & NeoGeo later, finding joy within the color puzzles. I love this game.
December 1st, 2025
I'm super sleepy, so this will be a bit of a short post. Yesterday, since I knew it would pop up for the first post of December, I tried XMas Shooting--Scramble!!, a Christmas themed bullet hell shooter. I didn't beat the first level yesterday, but I feel like I can. It's weird and festive, and the first level boss is an anime girl who came at my anime girl Santa with a cleaver. Video games are neat.
I also did a 30x30 puzzle in Picross S: SNK Classics & NeoGeo, and it was great. I wish more of my Picross games had really big puzzles in them.
