What Video Game Did I Play Yesterday?
Ketsui Deathtiny: Kizuna Jigoku Tachi (PS4)

Yesterday was a very fun gaming day! I played another session of A Way Out, for some reason finding it necessary to apologize that I slammed the horn non-stop while driving away from the cops. I really like the variety of stuff to do in this game. Last night in the game, I played basketball, threatened a guy with a blowtorch, got confused by the concept of boats, and repeatedly commented on how character actor-ish the character I'm not playing as looks. It's super fast moving and always tossing out new setpieces. I'm having a great time with it.
While I had the PS4 on, I did a run of the more accessible, but not super-easy mode in Ketsui: Deathtiny, running out of continues as I faced the tiny boss. This is not the best habit I've developed lately.
Later in the night, I continued my quest to play 30 minutes of an RPG a night with Quest Arrest, which is starting to click with me. I don't entirely vibe with the tone, as it feels a bit flash-game-edgy, but the cause and effect gameplay does work well. It's a little on-the-nose to have NPCs chat with me about whatever crime I just tried not to make worse, but it's also kind of cool.

I am continuing my tour of fine cinema tonight by watching an old bargain DVD of Spice World from Big Lots. It looks surprisingly good being played off a PS4, even if it is just a piece of fluff I like because I was 10 or 11 when I saw it. When it came out, my family had to drive to the next town to see it, and my mom said we were going to see Titanic. I really flipped when I realized we were seeing Spice World, though! I hadn't even known the Spice Girls were in a movie, and now I was going to see it? It was an extremely memorable burst of pure kid joy, and a very nice, extremely vivid memory!
Anyway, last night, I finished off Crazy Cats Survivors, which was fun, but way too short! The five minute runs kept things brisk, but I wish it had had more characters, or weapons, or anything to make it last more than 90 minutes. It's better that than wishing the game had never existed in hour ten of grinding for unlocks, but the balance is delicate.
After that, I slammed a strawberry flavored vodka cooler while doing a run in Ketsui: Deathtiny. It was the best run I'd ever had outside of super easy mode, with no need to continue until stage 4. It was fun, but not something I should make a habit of by any means.

I'm so sleepy I can't think today, but I slept well last night. It's very confusing. Lately I'm having so many strange dreams that I think it's making me tired, even if I do sleep a good amount. Hopefully I can rest well tonight!
Yesterday, I was just messing around with games rather than being very focused. I played a few minutes of Ketsui: Kizuna Jigoku Tachi: Deathtiny, doing some of the spot drills meant to train you for a one credit clear. I forgot how much I love this game, but had to do some chores and shut it off.
I played through Legends of Talia: Arcadia, a kinetic novel I had stashed on my PS4 hard drive after a deep discount. It was okay, just like reading a one volume manga on my TV, but the outfits were so ridiculous that they kind of undercut the story for me. It was a silly way to present such a serious story.
I also tried Virtua Fighter Kids, getting through Akira and Lion's arcade modes. It took a little getting used to, but it was fun.

I'm really spacing out for it being fairly early in an uneventful day! I did go get Vietnamese food for a friend's birthday, and stopped at Dollar Tree after, but there's nothing high intensity about any of that. Oh, well! It's ok to be a little out of it on a weekend.
Last night, I played some more of Ketsui: Deathtiny, grinding away at the lowest difficulty option on the super in-depth training mode. I cleared stage one with no hits as both planes, but it took more effort than I'd care to admit for the full stage run! It was really satisfying to get there, though.
I tried Akai Katana Shin, too, and got my butt kicked hard. I am not sure what I should be doing when I swap between shooting with a plane and a magic flying person yet, and not sure if now is the time to start juggling this game. It's very cool, though! I'm sure my lack of an attention span will bring me back here sooner rather than later.

Last night I was being a big dork and realized that I could just pick up Ketsui Deathtiny: Kizuna Jigoku Tachi as a PS4 download rather than importing a physical copy and did just that. I played the G-Mode Archives port of the flip phone version of this a lot a couple months ago, so starting it up for the first time had a strange "Wow, this is what this game is supposed to look and sound like!" feeling to it.
Gameplay-wise, though, they were a lot more comparable than I expected. I started in Super Easy mode, just out of a lack of confidence, but got my 1CC on my first try. It felt really good! One of the trophies in this game is for clearing Super Easy mode with no deaths, though, not just no continues, and I imagine the f-bomb will be dropped as often as my pilot's auto-bomb as I chase that goal.
At any rate, I like Ketsui. The music is neat and it makes me feel relaxed, so I'm looking forward to playing a ton of this.
