What Video Game Did I Play Yesterday?
A Way Out (PS4)

Today was exhausting, so I am making a very simple post that'll give me more work tomorrow. It'll balance out just fine.
My co-worker and I finished A Way Out last night, which was a blast. The last couple hours were wild, and pretty surprising, too. I was really impressed by a chase sequence that bounced back and forth between both players, though. It was well edited and choreographed, and had me so caught up in the gameplay and story that it wasn't until later I reflected on how hard it must be to make gameplay like that feel natural and fun. Playing an entire story-heavy game in co-op seemed like it could be gimmicky, but it didn't end up going that way at all.
I needed a new idle game to play to numb some stress, so I started Dig Deep, one of my many 20 cent Switch games. It's kind of like an interactive screensaver where you tell people to dig holes, but that was kind of what I needed yesterday.
For my RPG time, I spent some time with Shijou Saikyou Miyamoto Julia, but didn't get very far. I got bogged down by some cutscenes because my Japanese is exceedingly poor. Playing through one mission isn't nothing, though, and I'll get better with kanji the more I read!

Yesterday was a very fun gaming day! I played another session of A Way Out, for some reason finding it necessary to apologize that I slammed the horn non-stop while driving away from the cops. I really like the variety of stuff to do in this game. Last night in the game, I played basketball, threatened a guy with a blowtorch, got confused by the concept of boats, and repeatedly commented on how character actor-ish the character I'm not playing as looks. It's super fast moving and always tossing out new setpieces. I'm having a great time with it.
While I had the PS4 on, I did a run of the more accessible, but not super-easy mode in Ketsui: Deathtiny, running out of continues as I faced the tiny boss. This is not the best habit I've developed lately.
Later in the night, I continued my quest to play 30 minutes of an RPG a night with Quest Arrest, which is starting to click with me. I don't entirely vibe with the tone, as it feels a bit flash-game-edgy, but the cause and effect gameplay does work well. It's a little on-the-nose to have NPCs chat with me about whatever crime I just tried not to make worse, but it's also kind of cool.

I was sick overnight and for most of today, but I have no idea why. I was okay before bed, though, and played more of A Way Out. I lobbed swear words through discord while escaping prison, doing farm chores, and admiring a really good outdoor cat. I haven't played a game like this before, so I'm glad my friend pushed for it. It makes co-op gaming seem really fun.
I played a few rounds of Crowd City before bed, too. I got quite a bit unlocked and got to sleep well for a couple hours.

Last night, despite last week's Tony Hawk connection failures making me think it wouldn't go well, I played the start of A Way Out with one of my friends from work. It's a co-op prison escape game, and it was really enjoyable! I was kind of a wandering dolt, but everything is well synced and orchestrated enough that even my dippiest moments didn't cause a ton of trouble. Our guys still aren't out of the prison, but I'm looking forward to playing more next week.
I played some more of Disney Speedstorm, too, during my lunch break and before bed. It was something nice and mindless to play before bed, and I unlocked a new racer I'm interested in trying tonight.
