What Video Game Did I Play Yesterday?
Steam Spring Sale '25
Deathsmiles (Lenovo Legion Go)

My focus was horrible yesterday, so today's post is skipping a lot of shmups that I waffled between for five minutes at a time. Some days are like that. I did, however, beat Silly Bandz, which I guess is technically an accomplishment. After clearing the final stage, I realized I had more little bracelets to unlock. I don't want to spend a lot more time playing Angry Birds without the good bits, though. It was enough to clear all the levels and roll the credits.
Past that, I actually did spend a decent amount of time on Final Fantasy VII. I got through Wall Market and got dropped through a floor into a dungeon zone, which was satisfying. It's cool to play things I've heard about for years and get better context for them.
After doing my aforementioned skipping from shooter to shooter, I settled on spending time on a Steam port of Deathsmiles. I didn't pull off any fantastic feats last night, but I wasn't having to continue until late in stage 5. It gave me unfounded confidence.
I did a stack of puzzles in Picross S: SNK Classics & NeoGeo, too, which was a pleasant way to get myself to sleep.

I had a lot more free time yesterday than I expected, so I played the PC port of Deathsmiles for a while. I want to get used to playing at higher ranks than 1, and do think I'm improving at this game, far from a 1-credit-clear as I still am. Whether I'm good or not, though, I'm having fun! I feel so good at games when I manage to slip through enemy projectiles, and it's satisfying to get just a tiny bit better every time. It's nice to really feel locked into a game.

Yesterday, I kind of vegged out, so my screenshots for today's post are rubbish. I watched a documentary about pinball on Saturday, so I ended up re-downloading Zaccaria Pinball on my Legion Go. I thought that it being heftier than my Switch might make it feel better to play, but hadn't really taken into account how good the rumble would be, or that it just flat out runs smoother. Plus, it has over 4900 achievements on Steam for some God-knows-why reason, so I redownloaded the cheap retro tables and dug in. I didn't focus in on any one table yesterday, but when I get to the score challenges, I'll be a little more specific here. Video pinball is so cool!
I'm trying to play some shmups every day, just to relax and clear my brain out, so I played the PC version of Deathsmiles a little. It has enough different from the Switch version that I'll keep it on its own page. This version has achievements, and the Switch version has some mysterious extra characters, so I'll just keep a different focus for each.
I also started Rusty's Retirement yesterday, a cute bottom-of-the-screen farming game with robots, but I forgot to take a screenshot! I had it on for hours while I did chores and crafts, so I'm kind of frustrated with myself here. I's okay, though. I'll come back to this.
