What Video Game Did I Play Yesterday?

Sephirothic Stories (Switch)

May 31st, 2025

I kept getting distracted from posting today, by everything from reading manga to documentaries about the 1904 World's Fair, so this is a very late post. Luckily for me, it will also be a short one! I kept playing Sephirothic Stories last night, not at all dissuaded from my thought that it's kind of charming by getting a tiny fairy party member. I'm quite happy to play a game that's content to show me a lot of cute stuff while I level grind.

I continued my Jujutsu Kaisen puzzle, too, getting the logo on the board! This was big progress, and, yet again, I'm going to follow this post with more puzzle time. It's really exciting stuff.

It's Friday night, and I'm very sleepy! I am somewhat relieved that I didn't do too much last night. I went back to work on my 1000 piece Jujutsu Kaisen puzzle, getting the edge nearly completed. I'm going to go back to this after this post is done. It's satisfying!

I played a little more of Sephirothic Stories, too, delighted by the weird little monsters I'm fighting. The cactus king was my favorite one last night, but there were some weird googly eyed onions and off-brand storybook mushrooms, too. It's a very by-the-numbers RPG so far, which I did expect, but I like how bright and weird this world is.

I made too many jokes to friends and family about making a complete ranking of all JRPGs a few weeks ago when IGN made a list, so now I feel slightly honor-bound to at least play a few of the RPGs I have so I can yell that some of them are better than some of the others. Last night, I started in on this by playing 15 minutes of Sephirothic Stories, a Kemco RPG I picked up for a few dollars on the Switch eShop. It is cute, but since I wasn't feeling great last night, I didn't think about it a whole lot harder than that.

I'm glad I only had one game to post about today, because I have a super-basic kielbasa and bell pepper stew on the stove and it smells really excellent. Low effort home cooking with some vegetables is going to be better for my guts in the long run than giving up and going to Taco Bell, so I am glad I got up the energy to make something.
