What Video Game Did I Play Yesterday?
WIXOSS Multiverse (Mac)
October 12th, 2024
I had a pretty long gaming session last night, which was very nice and served as a good brain reset after a somewhat stressful week. Usually, the play sessions I'm writing about here are between 15 and 45 minutes. Last night, I played games for closer to five hours. It's not something I should be doing all the time, but it was nice, and my stress is so low today I might try to deliberately set up at least an hour or two for gaming on days off where nothing else is going on.
My biggest accomplishment last night was getting the story ending in Refind Self: The Personality Test Game, which I really ended up liking. It's a pretty slow paced and small, but open ended game, with quite a lot to do within each run, and I felt like it did a pretty good job of tying the personality test conceit to the story. After I got the real ending, I did a fourth playthrough to smash things and gamble, which was also satisfying, and played the bonus content quizzes, too. This was a good impulse buy, and I can see returning to it in the future.
Eight RPGs (though this fits the definition loosely) remain until I hit my goal of twelve for the year.
I got really close to the end of Archlion Saga, too, hitting the last chapter. So far, I wouldn't say this is anything amazing, but hitting all the main bits of a JRPG at mach speed is kind of charming. Plus, I like that my party's plucky elf girl mouths off a bit to my party's morally compromised spellcaster with hair worthy of a shampoo ad. Dark subject matter aside, the whole thing is kind of cute.
I spent some time with mobile games, too, especially Bleach: Soul Puzzle. I'm actually hitting some decently difficult match-3 puzzles in this, and even though I know they're "just give us a few bucks for some special items!" money pits, I'm satisfied to be clearing them cash-free.
Like I wanted to yesterday, I ran through some story chapters in Cardcaptor Sakura: Memory Key, too. They're just little summaries of the anime, so I don't have a ton to say about this, but it's an ok game to chill out with.
My worst idea of yesterday, though, was to zone out with Wixoss: Multiverse before bed. I cleared all my daily goals, the goal lists for two seperate events, and several plays of a virtual claw machine before just flat out falling asleep. It was honestly excellent.
There's no way I'm going to play this much today, too, but I do at least want to finish off Archlion Saga today. Aside from that, I'm gonna do some crafts and hope for a lovely day!

My eyes are really puffy and itchy today, so I've been lazy about posting! I thought if I waited, and also took some allergy meds, I'd pep up and get to it, but neither really worked. That is okay.
I'd been wanting to do this for about a week now, but I got The Sims 4 going again last night. I hadn't played it since before I'd started this blog, since I found it frustratingly clunky and slow on PS4. It runs a lot better on XBox Series S, and seemed a lot easier to start up, too! For now, I made my sort of default sim, tossed her in a pre-made house, which was a nice new feature, and got started with some timed quests to befriend the Grim Reaper, which also seems like an interesting new feature. I haven't done much at all yet, though, so I'm looking forward to seeing what sorts of problems I can cause!
I did enough rounds of Pokemon Polyhedral to hit the first trainer battle, too. Non-gym leader opponents are randomly generated Team Rocket grunts, so I'm using a name generator for my Kanto's all-girl Team Rocket splinter group. They're not really that bad- they just didn't want to pick a new aesthetic after the really crime-oriented original Team Rocket fell. All of the silliness inside my head aside, rolling for the opponent's Pokemon and their respective levels led to my really getting destroyed. That'll make it all the more satisfying when I do start winning, but I was still a little mad at how horrendous my own rolls were last night.
I played Wixoss Multiverse for a while, too. Since I'd done okay in a recent event, I was able to level up a lot of my party members' skills and felt like I jumped over a difficulty spike with expert form. It was fun causing turn based mayhem and destruction, so I played longer than I'd intended.
My eyes burn so much that I might not do much gaming today. I'll have something or other to post about tomorrow, though.

I'm doing a quick post this morning, but'll probably pop back in later to do some setup for October. I'm cutting it close, but have been painfully lazy and sluggish this month.
I got kind of swamped by cooking and a D&D night yesterday, so I only played mobile games. Like usual, I spent the most time chipping away at quests in Wixoss Multiverse, feeling delighted by the turn based havoc my little anime girls can wreak before hitting another steep levelling wall.
I played more than just the daily login on Cardcaptor Sakura: Memory Key, too, but not a ton. This game is so cutscene heavy that, even though it's low intensity, I really feel like I have to be in the mood for it. It's cute, but maybe slightly too idle an idle game.

I feel like last week, I did an extremely bad job of accomplishing things, as I did the week before. I want to try to turn that around next week, but don't have the world's highest hopes that I'll be able to. Still, I'll give it a shot! I have a somewhat big, at least conceptually, cross stitch project I want to try, and plan to get back to studying Japanese well, too. If I don't pull it off, though, that's okay, too!
As far as games go, I continued my inexplicable dedication to Wixoss Multiverse yesterday, plodding through piles of "give us money!" menus to make my anime girls rush murder towers and fight dinosaur riders.
It wasn't a major games day, so other than that, I did some extremely bad play in Pokemon Puzzle League while I was sleepy.
I cleared some item merging missions in Prison Noctis, too, but felt somewhat frustrated that my little merge board was getting cluttered. I think the game wants me to buy storage so I can tidy it up, but I don't intend to do that.

I had a little bit of energy back last night, but used all of it reading. I really got involved in A Night to Remember by Walter Lord, which is a very readable history of the Titanic's sinking. It's so crazy to think about how, even though 1912 seems so long ago, it was recent enough that I can click on my Kindle and pour over interviews with the survivors. History is neat!
I finished up The Big Bundle by Max Allan Collins, too, which was an efficent and tense true-crime based noir, and on the comics front, buzzed through The Perks of Being an S-Class Heroine, which, so far, is a charming reincarnation story. I'm really fascinated with how these reincarnated heroine, saint, and villainess stories iterate on each other to, past just being ripoffs of one another, develop their own internal logic and genre conventions at such a quick pace. Plus, I like to read fluffy brain candy, so it's easy to indluge.
Anyway, I know this isn't a books blog, but it's kind of fun to share sometime. On the games front, I wasn't doing anything out of the ordinary. I started in on the new weekly events in Wixoss Multiverse, clearing all that I could without tossing real cash at the game.
I played a few levels in Pocket Quest, too, getting a weapon that could inflict burn damage and feeling massively powerful in my tile matching exploits.

Yesterday wasn't a big video games day for me. I played a 12 minute exercise in Fitness Boxing feat. Hatsune Miku before work, which wasn't bad.
After work, I did have Wixoss Multiverse running for quite a while. I got a decent amount of level ups and made general progress, which was okay. It was a good thing to have on in the background.
I played Prison Noctis for a bit today, too, getting the truly bizarre pay-to-win screen I've included below. The slightly off translation and AI-seeming hands in this art really make it something special. I think my girl accessed the new merging screen that triggers this screen by finding a massive heroin stash, though, so maybe it's appropriate somehow.

I am having an extremely difficult time the last few days and have no idea why! I'm trying to get back on track today, with some grocery shopping and meal prep to follow this post, but it feels super challenging.
None of what I'm posting about here is too bad, though. I built a tiny not-Lego of a computer while watching Youtube yesterday morning, and was very satisfied with how cute and 90s it is. The tiny bits might make it hard to display, since I have too many cheapo tables with lattice tops, but I'll figure that out.
I was a little too tired to do much gaming yesterday. I did play an hour or so of Wixoss Multiverse. This week's special character is really good, and I'd love to be lucky enough to gacha her, but don't think that's gonna happen. I'll play through her weekly missions, though, and see if I get anywhere.
I tried one of the Switch games I bought for 20 cents a few months back, too, called Pocket Quest. It's a pretty basic match-3 RPG, but I'm happy with that for now. Casual games are valuable in times of inexplicable tiredness.

Yesterday, I started to feel a little better than I had been after work, so I decided to "catch up" on the fitness games I hadn't been playing earlier in the week. This was a terrible idea, and by the end of it, I could barely function enough to brush my teeth. I did make it through, though, and am a bit proud of that. I started last night's mistake of a fitness journey with Fitness Boxing: Fist of the North Star, where I got in a plain, low level daily workout. As far as things went, this was fine.
After a short break, I popped back over to my Switch to play a standard workout in Fitness Circuit, which makes me slightly miserable on a good day. By the end of the session last night, I was sweating so much my forehead burned, which I don't think is a great sign.
I was really bought into the idea of fully catching up on my workouts by then, though, and also pretty tired, so from there, I bounced to Fitness Boxing feat Hatsune Miku. I just did three song routines here, and it was easier to get through than Fitness Circuit. The songs were very high energy, though, and by the end of it, even though I made it through, my scores were not stunning. Still, I felt kind of accomplished by the end.
Apart from all that, I did spend some time level grinding away at Wixoss Multiverse, levelling up a bit without making much overarching progress. It was a pretty typical mobile game session.
September 19th, 2024
I'm doing another quick post today, but hoping to get back on a better track today! I cleared the level-up challenge I'd been stuck on in Wixoss Multiverse, which was nice.
I also played a few minutes of Diabolic, a simple indie dungeon crawler I had started and abandoned on Switch, mostly level grinding.
September 18th, 2024
My post today is just going to be on mobile games, since my game time was limited again. I did continue to keep up with Wixoss Multiverse, where I got assigned as my circle (or guild) leader. I don't know why, unless the previous leader just failed to log in for a while, but I changed our icon to a cat. I'm still so stuck on my level 70 to 71 level up battle, though, that I don't feel like a fit leader. Probably I don't have to do much, though, so I'll see what happens.
I played King of Prism Sparkling for a few minutes right before bed, too, since I hadn't done that for a while. Since I'd been logging in daily, I had plenty of in game currency to throw around, and it was a satisfying feeling. Right now, I'm trying to improve my profits and grind for EXP by raising my little "junior" idols, but there's so many ways to go about levelling up in this game that I don't think it matters.
September 17th, 2024
Today will be a quick post! I kept up with Wixoss Multiverse before bed last night, chipping away at the events to try and get levelling materials. While I was doing some Pokemon Stadium style "select your party members from a list" fights the other day, I realized you get a bonus with three party members of the same "type," which is helpful in figuring out what party members I want to level up next. I still haven't picked yet, though.
I got started on the medium difficulty level of the story mode in Fitness Boxing: Fist of the North Star, too. It's not more difficult so far, but it does take longer.
September 16th, 2024
Yesterday was really busy, and today will be, too. I put a small amount of time into Wixoss Multiverse last night, where my "girls who can set you on fire" party concept is starting to take shape. I feel like I need better overall attack, since chipping away at opponents with burn damage isn't quite enough to win, but I can continue to refine this nonsense.
For my daily workout game, I played Walk It Out! for a while, alarmed at how angry the game's yelling little girl trainer was that I haven't played daily. My attention span isn't good enough for that sort of business, so she can yell at me forever.
September 15th, 2024
Last week, I was really feeling overwhelmed and under the weather, so I didn't finish my craft goals for the week. I made a run at clearing them yesterday, but decided it wasn't worth stressing myself out so much. I'll try again for next week, though!
I did play a lot of video games yesterday, though. I was in the mood to play something really dumb, so I started Oneechanbara: Bikini Samurai Squad, on my XBox. I'd gotten this super cheap in a sale, and so far, it is very ridiculous and very satisfying. It bothers me that Aya, my zombie stabber, is wearing a boa into zones where zombies are on fire. It seems like a really unnecessary safety risk! I'm having a great time so far, though, and looking forward to more mindless slashing.
I also spent a lot of time in Wixoss Multiverse, where I'm trying to rebuild bits of my party. I am often losing matches due to being set on fire, so I have decided that rather than finding a way to guard against this, I just need all the girls on my team also setting my opponents on fire. Honestly, it's not going stunningly well so far, and at the moment, I feel I am grinding to make things slightly worse for myself. If this fails, though, I'll just think about other setups.
Before bed, I turned on Honkai Star Rail for the first time in a while, and promptly got lit on fire there, too. My RPG girls look very stylish, but they're way too flammable! For now, though, I have a new character I gacha'd that I want to level up, so I went back to try the Simulated Universe subquest to see if I could gather any materials there. After the boss set me on fire until I died, though, I shut the game off and went to sleep. I'll see what I can do about that today.
I did a daily workout in Fitness Boxing feat. Hatsune Miku, too. No one was on fire in this game and honestly that's a little lame.

Today, I'm really fighting to be productive! It's not working the best, but I am certainly making an effort!
Yesterday, I was not at my most productive, but I did clear the story mode in Fitness Boxing: Fist of the North Star on "light" mode. I'd feel accomplished, but I have two more difficulty levels to tackle from here. When I clear the top level, then I'll be excited.
From there, I was back on mobile games, and, yet again, really zoomed in on Wixoss Multiverse. It looks like three in-game events kicked off yesterday, and I want to see if I can make any headway in them. My progress on the daily tasks they tossed out was good last night, so it might end up going ok.
I spent a lot of time on Merge Prison, too, though I frittered away more time on the merge screen than in the story parts. It made for some nice, low-pressure mobile gaming zone-out time.
September 10th, 2024
This is a pretty sleepy morning, but that's ok. Yesterday, I decided to try moving my exercise gaming to the morning, with a light workout in Fitness Boxing: Fist of the North Star. It was not what I would consider an enjoyable choice, but I was happy with myself for not getting back in bed to push silently dreading the day as close as possible to the start of my work shift.
Other than that, though, it was just a mobile game day. I tried another Instant Plays game on my phone, Pixelint, which is just a simple "match your pixels to the example" game. The ads aren't too intrusive in this one, with one five second one playing every three or four levels. Plus, it seems relaxing so far.
I put some time into Wixoss Multiverse again, too, feeling satisfied that levelling my party had concrete results in battle. It was not a good focus tool yesterday, though. I ended up totally putting aside the stuff I was supposed to be doing to feed my tiny anime girls.... maybe batteries, I don't know, I'm actually not paying so much attention. That's fine, though! Games are for fun and relaxation, not productivity, so that was maybe a healthier way to enjoy it.
September 9th, 2024
I'm trying to get the week off to a good start this morning, but do not feel like I'm approaching the task well. Yesterday, though, I did have a successful productivity aid in Wixoss Multiverse, which I left running for hours as I ran through my daily tasks. It was too play-intensive to use during a work day, since I'd finish a set amount of tasks every hour before letting myself play, but it helped me get through 31 tasks on my weekly to-do list, which is a new record! Plus, my tiny card girls have all sorts of fancy weapons and it makes me feel powerful.
I'm trying to get back to fitness games more regularly, too, since I'm somewhat getting out of whatever dreadful "curl up in a ball and nap" funk I'd been in. Last night, that meant I did a 12 minute exercise in Fitness Boxing 2 while I waited to go pick up Indian food, but it wasn't nothing.
I played another run of Balatro after my internet went out, too. It was bad again.
September 2nd, 2024
I only played mobile games yesterday, so this won't be a very good post. Prison Noctis is having a couple of events, so I kept popping back in as my energy refilled to clear merge screens and collect virtual trinkets. It was pointless, and it is narratively disconcerting that my protagonist will put a halt to her attempts to escape wrongful imprisonment for toy stock car races, but we all deal with stress in different ways.
I played way too much of WIXOSS Multiverse, too, mostly because my computer was on, giving me easy access, and because I didn't want to do anything more productive. I got a party member I really liked, a maid aggressively tending to plants, but since she's the lowest rarity, she's probably not very strong. Regardless, I intend to shoehorn her into my party as long as possible.
August 30th, 2024
Despite my reader-facing pep on here, I wasn't feeling good yesterday. I picked up another G123 clicker game, WIXOSS Multiverse, and got really zoomed in on it. It does seem suspiciously similar to their other clickers, but the menu design is decently intuitive here.
I kept playing Prison Noctis, too, and am still pretty amused by it. So many employees of this prison seem to be in dire need of sponges and brushes from me, a prisoner that is clearly misbehaving, that I'm starting to think of it as a story of institutional collapse.
As for more standard gaming, I did another run in Balatro. It was pretty unremarkable, and I lost at ante 5, not even to a boss blind.
